Cecil was born on February 10, 1934 in West Branch, Iowa to Birthel Earl and Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Timmons. He had two sisters, Elizabeth Catherine and Beth. After completing his GED, Cecil joined the United States Air Force. During his term of service, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He proudly served for 20 years, serving in Vietnam and Korea, and retired as Technical Sergeant.
Cecil married the love of his life, Marilyn Cornelia Dempsey on June 16, 1971 and raised her five children as his own. Marilyn passed away in 1999. He again married the love of the rest of his life, Norma Jean Rapue, on Valentine’s Day in 2006. Cecil had a lot of love to give in this world. Norma was his fourth wife. He welcomed four beautiful daughters and a son with his second.
After retiring from the Air Force, Cecil kept busy with a great many odd jobs. He worked as a gunsmith, a knife maker, a cabinet refinisher and he was even a Pastor. He officially retired in 2004. He was a man of faith and a member of Calvary Chapel in Greeley, Colorado. He was also a member of the VFW and had been a member of the Lions Club, as well.
Cecil was very charming and rather flirtatious at times. He had a smile that could win just about anyone over and a great sense of humor, always joking around with his kids. He was a wonderful father, to all of his children. He had a passion for life and enjoyed a number of hobbies including photography, gunsmithing, making knives, traveling, and hunting. He did not waste his days. Cecil was loved and will be dearly missed by his family.
