Chuck was born on April 20, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Joseph and Helen Salter. After high school, he received two Bachelor of Science degrees from Johns Hopkins University. He went on to receive his Masters in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins and a Doctorate from Kansas State University. Chuck was employed as an engineer for Western Electric for several years until retirement. From 1961-1963, he was active duty with the U.S. Army.
On November 17, 1967, Chuck married the love of his life Bernadette “Bee” (Hall) Salter, who preceded him in death in 2021. Chuck and Bee had two children, Todd Salter (Terri) and Tracey Poppe (Gary). He also has two grandchildren, Andrew Brown (Molly) and Katherine Poppe, and one great grandchild, Emma Brown.
Chuck enjoyed his time with family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a big fan of Colorado’s great outdoors and the Rocky Mountains. Chuck was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Longmont. He also served in resident leadership at Balfour Senior Living in Longmont.
Charles will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
