

Charles T. Schumacher passed away September 5, 2017 at Life Care Center of Longmont. He was 85 years old.Charles was born on June 5, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA to Thomas and Hazel (Holliday) Schumacher. He grew up in Pittsburgh, graduating from Swissvale High School. Chuck went on to attend Penn State University and joined the Navy ROTC. He graduated from Penn State in 1955 with a Bachelor's degree in geography. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving for a couple of year's active duty during the Korean War, and then completed 30 years in the Navy Reserves as Captain.Charles married Beverly A. Nelson in Minneapolis, MN on June 10, 1965.Following his active duty in the Navy, Chuck worked in the aviation and sales departments of several companies before starting his own Manufacturing Representative business in 1967. He retired from his final company, CT Sales in 1991. Chuck and Bev relocated from Wayzata, MN to Boulder, CO, in 1991. Following a short experiment with retirement, Chuck played as President, Salesman, Secretary, and Janitor of Sundance Sales until 2000. After which he enjoyed many excursions and trips with Bev and other family and friends. In 2013, Chuck and Bev moved to Longmont.Chuck was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Longmont, the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Quiet Birdman Association, Saga Klubben (a Norwegian Story Club), and the Navy League.He enjoyed flying and all things aviation. Chuck also loved sailing, particularly in Minnesota. He was an avid handyman, helping around the house and the neighborhood.He was preceded in death by his parents and many buddies.Chuck is survived by his wife, Bev Schumacher of Longmont; son, Tom (Patsy) Schumacher and their son, Peter, of California, MD; daughter, Caroline (Robert) Vickers and grand-dog, Gracie, of Ph nix, AZ; sister, Jane (Carl) Necker and her family.A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 22, 2017 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, CO.
