She was born on December 09, 1962 in Bay City, Michigan, a daughter to the late Richard Reno and Sally Rau. In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her sister, Luann Spiech and nephew, Kelvin Spiech.
Cheryl is survived by her partner, Gary Disney; her stepson Tom Disney and his wife, Jill; her two grandchildren, Theo and Lo; and her brother-in-law, Todd Spiech, and nephew, Adam Spiech.
Cheryl grew up in Michigan and after graduating with her Education degree, she moved to Juneau, Alaska until making Colorado her home in the late 1990s. Her first stop was in Steamboat Springs until she finally settled down in Longmont and was a Special Education teacher in the St. Vrain Valley school district until she retired in 2020.
Cheryl cared deeply about her family, her love of animals, especially her late dog, Mattie, enjoying time outside among the garden that she and Gary tended, and supporting local shops in every city she traveled to. She lit up every chance she got to spend time with her grandchildren, whether it was through FaceTime or in person.
Cheryl was passionate about the world, the environment, and social justice. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her and experienced her thoughtful, positive, and encouraging words, whether in person, over the phone, or by text with her emojis.
No public services are planned at this time and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Longmont Humane Society at 9595 Nelson Rd, Longmont, CO 80501.
