I met Chris in Shiraz in 1974, where they were living near Khakshensi and Eram Blvd. Chris and I (along with Pam, mom and dad ) used to take motorcycle rides. I spend many evenings at Chris' house listening to music (e.g Rainbow-Temple of the king, he really jammed his air guitar on this one), his photography dark room and softball. To a Persian boy in the 70s, it was match made in heavens. Chris was the perfect ambassador to the American way of life, I came to know and embrace. 

Although the 1979 turmoil abruptly separated us, I moved to US and we had another chance to meet and have a drink or two in mid 80s. Unfortunately my other attempts to look him up were not fruitful until tonight....

Chris was a great person and friend. It aches my hart to think I'll never see him. I was looking forward to meet him again in my ending chapters and reminisce; from Shiraz and beyond... Chris was a kind, rich and graceful person...my teacher, my buddy....RIP.

I am honored and blessed to have known Chris. He was truly a blessing in my life and I will miss him. My condolences.

Medi Montaseri

On a whim I just did a search for my old friend Chris Bellman. I'm broken hearted to learn he has passed. Chris and I were college roommates in Ohio. Chris was smart, a good student and had a keen interest in music. I remember he had a huge ""boom box"" that he had acquired over seas. We listened to a broad variety of rock music on cassette. I have the fondest memories of Chris even though it's been 35 years now. Rest in peace.

Chris and I were in 8th and 9th grades together in Shiraz.  Somehow, all these years later, we wound up living only 25 miles apart in Colorado.  I'm glad we had the opportunity to renew our friendship this past year.  Dean DeRizzo and I attended Chris' Celebration of Life on Nov 12, along with Chris' family and professional colleagues.  It was good to see Pam and to hear how well-liked Chris was by his peers.  He will be missed.  Khoda hafez, Chris!

I met Chris in 1975 right after school started at the old IEI school through Richard Burger. We had some of the same classes and of course a lot of the same friends. It was common to be at the same place in the same group of people but then the memory came to me that the last time I visited Shiraz before I came home, he was in the group of people I spent a good portion of the last day with. That means a lot to me. After he was diagnosed I called and then I texted, but it was not until I read about him that I realized that we could have talked science fiction and old coins, which I believe he would have enjoyed more. Until we meet again

Brian Pate

Chris was one of the first people I got to know on my arrival at IEI School in the 1977/78 year. I remember going around to his house and hanging out so much with him in those first few months. His accepting and easy-going nature really helped me to settle in to a completely different way of life. He remained a good friend until we eventually went our separate ways, and this, I shall always remember. Rest In Peace, Chris.

I played basketball, and hung out with Chris in Iran. When we got back to the States, he told me I should be watching a new show on TV called ""Mork and Mindy"" because he thought the lead actor was hilarious. Chris also convinced me that I should start listening to FM radio. I moved away, and we lost touch, but I will always remember him as a good-hearted person, and a fun guy.

This picture of Chris, is the face that greeted me, every time I stopped in to visit, and usually unannounced. He was like the Energizer Bunny...he out beat the odds of ""several months"" over one year ago. He took on his battle with a smile, a sense of humor and stubbornness which most likely was his battery.  
If it was a sunny day, I could bet that I would find him outside, sitting on his porch in his rickety lawn chair that he refused to let anyone replace.  And as I turned the corner, there he was.. in his precarious lawn chair, with this smile on his face. We would sit outside and neither of us felt like we had to cough up a conversation. If we felt like talking, we would; if not , then we enjoyed the quietness. Chris was the first to make a joke of how his pants no longer fit and for the first time... he is now hip in fashion with the teenagers today,  or the money he was saving as he did not need to go to the Barber.  
We frequently talked about our experiences living in Shiraz. I remember him as a soft spoken, smart, reserved person. But obviously I was not one of his real Shirazee friends. I heard stories from Chris that made me think, ""Wow... I was really missing out on some real teenager fun... ""  What he experienced with his close friends in Shiraz, should be made into a book, titled ""Thrilling times..... no longer available to teenagers ANYWHERE.""     
My heart is heavy, I miss our outdoor reflections.
