
Clara Elizabeth Jones, 94, passed away peacefully at Safe Harbor Assisted Living on July 27, 2015. Her life graced many people, young and old, as she demonstrated true hospitality to friend and stranger alike, leaving behind a legacy of love and forgiveness.She was born February 12, 1921 in Mitchell, South Dakota to William and Elizabeth (Haut) Scheurenbrand. She graduated from Mitchell High School and Black Hills Commercial College in Rapid City, SD.Clara married Kenneth W. Jones on March 7, 1942 in Rapid City and they made their home there until moving to Longmont, CO in 1962. While in Rapid City she worked in the office at the Midwest Clinic. However, most of her life was devoted to being a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.Clara was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. In 2001, Clara was honored as a Volunteer Extraordinary by the Longmont Mental Health Clinic for more than 20 years of service for her untiring commitment to staff support and cheerful presence. She also had many volunteer hours at Longmont United Hospital.She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Kenneth in 2006.Clara is survived by her four children: Sandra Jones (Tom Walker) of Gaylord, MI, Dwayne Jones of Longmont, Craig Jones (Diane) of Boulder, Paul Jones of Longmont; four grandchildren: Amy Hazlett (Bill), Margaret Terrell (Jeff Hahne), Cassia Baranello (Michael) and Ruth Shilling (Truett); eight great-grandchildren: Hannah Terrell, Samuel Hazlett, Andrew Terrell, Josh Hazlett, Catherine Terrell, Elsa Shilling, Vipin Baranello and Corbin Baranello. Also many special cousins.Visitation will be 4:30 to 6:30 pm Monday, August 3, 2015 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with family present to greet friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Messiah Lutheran Church. A fellowship reception will follow the funeral at Messiah, followed by the Interment at Foothills Gardens of Memory at approximately 1:00 pm.
