

Cleo was born on March 17, 1919 in Limon, Colorado, the daughter of George Pinkney and Twila (Huffman) Lyon. On June 21, 1935 she married Maurice Bennett in Limon, Colorado. The couple farmed north of Limon before moving to Longmont in 1945.
After moving to Longmont, they first farmed in the Ryssby area and later moved into town. In addition to being a homemaker, Cleo worked at Les’s Bakery, the Dainty Pastry, and eventually retired from Albertson’s Bakery.
She was a member of the Adam and Eve Garden Club, enjoyed quilting at the Senior Center and with Interfaith Quilters. She was a life-long gardener.
She is survived by her son Duane (Cindy) Bennett and her daughter Charlotte (Charles) Hughlett, both of Longmont, her sisters Marie Menge of Denver, and Ida Rice of Fresno, CA, 4 grandchildren, Randi (Rob) Swindler, Trace Foster, Dustan (Amber) Bennett, Sunny (Rob) Fitzgerald and two great grandchildren
Preceding Cleo in death were her parents, her husband Maurice in 1981 and six siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Howe Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
