Danette M. Woltman, of Longmont, CO, finally lost her 30 years long battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Longmont United Hospital. She was 47 years old.

Danette was born in El Paso, TX to Mike Woltman and Carol Cowell. She was one of four children. As a result of her father’s work, Danette moved around in her younger years, from El Paso, TX to Tucson, AZ to Colorado Springs, CO to Sheridan, WY to Great Falls, MT, before the family finally settled in Boulder, CO; where she graduated from Boulder High School in 1991.

On June 17, 1999, Danette married Kevin McClarity at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV. She loved Kevin dearly and together they welcomed into the world one beautiful daughter, Kayla, who would become the love of Danette’s life; the force that kept her going through bad times and worse. Kevin passed away in October of 2009.

Danette worked most of her life as an LPN in Senior Care. She always wanted to work in health care. She attended North East Junior College in Sterling, CO, earning her Associate’s Degree in nursing and attaining her LPN certification. Danette worked 27 years of her life caring for others. She loved being a nurse; so much so that she worked a 12 hour shift the Saturday before her passing, while in liver failure. She always put others first.

Danette was a soul that shined; a light that would brighten the darkest of days. She was an avid reader, even as a child. She loved game shows and reality television. Danette could often be found curled up with a romance or mystery novel, in front of the TV, watching Survivor. She loved crafting and card games; Sequence was a favorite. Danette loved to travel, especially to the ocean, where she would happily collect shells along the shore. She loved live music and attended several Ed Sheeran concerts with her daughter by her side. She loved her Yorkshire Terriers. She loved Mexican food; the spicier the better. Danette loved the warmer weather and her family thought it most fitting that she left this world before the cold came in.

Danette was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin, and her three Yorkies, Buster, Bunny and Babe. She is survived by her daughter, her parents, her brothers Nathan and Brian (Susan), her sister Sabrina Ramey (Troy), her nieces Mackenzie & Evelyn and her nephew, William. Danette was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held in her honor Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, CO; beginning promptly at 11:00am, as Danette was never late. A Private Family Graveside will be held the following day and Danette will be laid to rest with Kevin. If you wish to send flowers, Longmont Florist will happily assist in creating a beautiful arrangement for Danette and deliver to the chapel the day of her service. Please consider a donation in her name to Susan G. Komen for The Cure. Please visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share a memory of Danette and to express your condolences to her family.

I worked at showtime video. That's where I met her and her family. She would come in and we would talk movies and soon we became friends. She would even come vent to me when she was overwhelmed with medical stuff....but she always made sure she reminded herself and me that no matter what, she had more to fight for and happy memories to make. She left the memory with me that, no matter what...keep a goal in mind and remember the good. She loved her family and life. She will be missed so much. She was a bright spot in everyone's lives. The best way we can remember her is to carry on with her wishes, aspirations, dreams and heart she showed us all. She will live forever in our minds and actions and we can magnify the love and make the world a better place with her in thought. Hugs to everyone who knew her. We were all so lucky. Rest in peace Danette!

Kayla,
You don't know me and I never met your mother. I wanted to send my condolences because my life changed in the same way as yours when I was young. My mother passed away at age 42 after battling breast cancer for a number of years. I was 15. My remaining years in high school and college were difficult, but I promise it does eventually get better. You are fortunate to have grandparents. Your mother sounds like a very caring and nurturing person; she must have learned that from someone. Hang on to them and trust in your own strength as well. Praying for God's comfort for you as you adjust to a different life going forward.

My mom, Elna, passed away last December at Lifecare. She and Danette had a special bond and Elna cherished Danette, often calling out to her for comfort, a touch, a moment of time, which Danette never failed to give her. She was w my mom on one of the bad nights near her end. I will never forget her kind words, her presence. And I know my mom will be so happy to see her again, in Heaven, this time.

There's a lot I want to say but I don't believe I can scrape up the words about how I feel. While I don't fully know her as well, Danette played a key factor in my life through the years of my development in middle school. Shaping some of who I've grown to be. I loved the time I got to spend with her, even though now, it feels as if it's been a lifetime since then. I wish her nothing but peace in rest.

Thank you Danette.

I remember when my mother couldn't have me in the home for months Danette took me in. She always took care of me when I needed it, whether I was sick, needed new clothes, and even needed someone to talk to. Kayla was already basically my sister and she became my other mother. I will miss her dearly.. I loved going out and having her drive around with us and enjoy music and spending time with us all. ♡
