Born and raised in Wellsville, New York, Daniel was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country as a Marine. He moved out West as a young adult, making Colorado his home, and spent 40 years of his life living on Shady Lane, a place that held a special spot in his heart. An avid lover of nature, Daniel found great peace and joy in the outdoors, especially through hunting, fishing, and spending time in the open air. He held a deep affection for animals and deeply appreciated quiet majesty of the natural world.
Daniel will be remembered most for his friendly, approachable manner and his unwavering devotion to his family and friends. Generous and dependable, he gave freely of his time, energy, and resources to support his friends, family, and strangers alike. If anyone was ever in need, Daniel was always there to lend a hand.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Chaffee; his father, Daniel Joseph Murphy, Jr; his brother, Dennis Murphy; and his sister, Lisa Stisser.
Daniel is survived by his sisters, Julie Rickicki, Jean Frank, and Tina Miller; his children, Christi, Kimberly, and Emerald Murphy; his grandchildren, Daniel Vela II, Samantha and Amber Ryan, and Alexsandra Benitez-Gomez; and his great-grandchildren, Elias and Leighila Deherrera, Empryss Lewis, and Jose Benitez, as well as his soon-to-be-born great-great-grandson.
