He was born to Shirley and Larry Doyle in Edgemont, South Dakota on August 28, 1963. Shortly after his birth, David, his parents, and his three brothers moved to Sierra Vista, AZ. It was in Sierra Vista that David grew up, spending his time playing sports with his brothers, riding motorcycles, working on cars, and helping his parents at home. He had many stories of the life they led there and the many adventures he and his brothers had.
In March 1990, he met the love of his life, Lynne Robbins Doyle, and on January 19, 1991, they were married. Together, they built a life in Tucson, AZ and had two children.
For over 20 years, David worked for Vaisala, Inc. as a regional manager. Before that, he worked for IBM as a customer engineer. He was well known for his strong leadership skills and mentoring abilities.
Outside of work, David had a passion for youth sports. He coached basketball when his children were young. Once they aged-out, David continued to be involved in local sports programs by refereeing for many different types of games, though his favorite was umpiring for little league baseball and for fast-pitch softball.
Those who remember him would vow that he had another great passion: helping others. David was a selfless man who loved to be of assistance to anyone who needed anything. He helped his employees to improve their skills and made it possible for them to move on to better positions within the company. He helped family members with financial matters, with mundane chores like weeding, with their taxes, and he generally was willing to assist in any way that he could.
David is joining his parents Larry and Shirley and his brothers Bob and Bill. He is survived by his wife Lynne Robbins Doyle; his children, Shelby Whitehill and Casey Doyle; his brother, John Doyle; and his many friends, colleagues, and neighbors. He will be greatly missed.
Donations to David’s name should be made to any local youth sports organization.
