David Marquardt, 77, of Erie, Colorado died on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Boulder Community Health surrounded by his family and friends. David loved life and the challenges it brought. He tackled those challenges with intelligence and inquisitiveness while still caring for the people around him. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in civil engineering before moving on to officer candidate school in Virginia as part of the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps was the first of a number of careers. After parting with the Marine Corps he went on to help build power plants in a number of different states across the US before trying his hand at owning and operating several restaurants as well as a bar; The Colorado Coal Company in north Boulder. He would return to building power plants before moving on to becoming his own boss again when he purchased and operated Concord Guides. Despite settling permanently in Colorado in 1975 he would remain a die-hard fan and shareholder of the Green Bay Packers. His hobbies and activities were numerous; photography, tennis, skiing, woodcraft, carving and painting beautiful carousel horses, traveling the world and loving his family, friends, and pets. A life well-lived and well-loved. Dave is survived by his wife of 55 years, Audrey, his three children: Kris Marquardt and wife Robyn Devine, Kelly Marquardt, and Eric and wife Jennifer Marquardt, his two grandchildren: Calvin and Alex Marquardt, his brother Don, his Portuguese Water dog Raschko along with numerous loaner children and grandchildren.
