David Sweet

Dave was born on March 9, 1939 in East Moline, Illinois to William Albertus Sweet and Drucella Louise Lundeen Sweet. He was raised in East Moline and joined the U.S. Navy following high school.

Dave visited Longmont following his discharge and fell in love with the community. He would spend his adult life here, until his retirement moving to the warmth of Arizona. He had many varied interests including hunting, fishing and camping with his family most weekends. A car enthusiast he was frequently adding to his fleet. Following his retirement, he and his companion Betty McCorkle took to the open road in their motor home, visiting a large part of the U.S. and Canada.

Dave worked for 35 years at the Rocky Flats plants for several contractors there. He retired as a manager of Health, Safety and Environmental Services.

Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother Larry Sweet, and a sister Shirley Duncan.

Surviving are his companion Betty McCorkle of Arizona; son Patrick (Larissa) Sweet of Firestone; daughter Julie Silbaugh of Longmont; brother Robert Sweet of Green Valley, sisters Donna Scoville and Judith Long both of Green Valley; grandchildren Shea (Jon) Ratzliff, Tanner Sweet, Makenzie Sweet, Gaites Sweet, Riley Sweet, Courtney (Kris) Deckman and Nichole Vogl; and great grandchildren Hailey Schlagel, Kevin Deckman and Gunner Ratzliff.

A cremation has been held. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.
