Dawn Dee Jones

Dawn “Dee” Fillingim Jones, age 66, passed away February 1, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer, at her home in Longmont, Colorado. Dawn was born August 10, 1949 in Wheeler, Texas to Adolphus Talmadge and Shirley Manuel Fillingim. She grew up in South Dakota and married Jimmie Jones on July 18, 1969 in Faith, South Dakota. They moved to Colorado in 1969 and lived in Longmont for the last 41 years. Dee worked at Green Spot Inc. for the past 43 years. She was a member of Longs Peak United Methodist Church where she was a choir member and served on various committees at different times. Dee enjoyed flower gardening, hiking and camping. Dawn’s family would like to thank Halcyon Hospice, especially Libby, Nicole and Desirae.

Survived by her loving husband Jimmie Jones; daughter Heather Jones; son Brian (Annastasi) Jones; siblings, Sandy Fillingim, Tallee (Frances) Fillingim, Lynn (Rick Martin) Fillingim, Vaughn (Ana) Fillingim; four grandchildren, Cecilia, Orion, Liam and Jasper.

Preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 5, 2016, 1:00 pm, Longs Peak United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends at Howe Mortuary on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and Friday at the church one half hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation in Dawn’s name to OUR Center or Hope Cancer Center in Longmont, CO.
