Debra Denise Peterson passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at her home in Loveland, Colorado surrounded by her family. She was 70. She was born June 25, 1951 to Maxine and Norman (Blake) Gourley in Superior, Nebraska and moved to Longmont when she was 2 years old. Debra attended Columbine Elementary and Longmont High School where she played the accordion in school. She was a waitress for 13 years, graduated from Sharon and Duran’s School of Cosmetology in 1984 and worked as a Cosmetologist at JCPenney’s Salon within the Twin Peaks Mall for 8 years and later worked in the catalog department, as well as the jewelry department. She later went on to work at King Soopers in 1992, in the bakery department for 25 years until her retirement in 2017. Debra loved her family, grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a member of the Longmont Moose Lodge #1548, where she loved to meet and hang out with her friends as well as meet new people. Debra loved to go to NHRA Racing and Sprint Car races. She loved going to Vegas and Central City with her friends from the Moose Lodge. In fact, Debra met her fiancé Darryl “Lee” Barker at the Moose Lodge and they traveled together all over. They both loved riding freely on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Debra also loved to sew, crochet blankets and dolls, bake, and was very creative. She loved to dress up for Halloween and she DID love Christmas (chuckle is on you Redder Badge 😊) because that's when she saw her family the most.

Debra was very beautiful, incredibly kind, fiercely independent and an undeniably strong woman. Life didn't always show her the easy or fair road, but she was tough as nails and would hold her head up high and push through anything that tried to knock her down, always coming back with a tougher punch and still standing. She was so giving and very soft hearted once you got to know her. She is survived by her son Jackie Dale Mosco, Jr. and his wife Lisa Mosco of Longmont, CO; daughter Schellie Stevens and her husband Chad Stevens of Loveland, CO; sister Lynda Tassler and a nephew James Tassler of Logan Lane; 10 Grandchildren; Wesley and wife Lindsey Mosco of Firestone CO; Lyssa Mosco of Greeley, CO; Samantha Jo Mosco of Longmont, CO; Michael Mosco and Amber Lund of Mead, CO; Ryan and Lydia Mosco from Hickman, NE; Aryon and Brook Mosco from Lincoln, NE; Austin Topham from Lincoln NE. Michaela Thyfault and Cody Hegwood of Loveland, CO; Randi Thyfault of Loveland, CO; Jacob Thyfault of Loveland, CO; 16 Great-grandchildren; Ashlynn, Delaney, Riley, Haiden, Mckenzie, Erich, Noah, Michael Jr, Tobias, Amelia, Layton, Breighdon, (+New Announced Baby Boy), Shaylynn, Jaxsun and Colton. Schellie, Heaven has added an Angel; your Mom, Deb was such a kind person. I'll always remember how welcoming she was to me and all your friends. We all loved hanging at your house, chatting about our days and who we liked with your mom. We'd have so much fun when she'd play her country music loud and we'd sing along and dance. I'll always remember those good times. God bless you and your family and watch over you during this most difficult time. May time heal the sadness that you feel with the loss of your Mom. During these tough times, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love you!!!!

♥️ Deb will forever be in our hearts ♥️

I feel heartbroken but I know she is here with us and watching over all of her family and friends. She is protecting each of us in the most powerful way. When I think of her, I remember a strong, caring, determined, loving, hard-working, protective, beautiful and amazing woman, who loved her family and friends with all of her heart.

She was always there for us growing up and I remember always feeling welcomed and feeling her warmth and love. I will also always cherish her wit and fun sense of humor and she had a laugh that could light of a room. She will be missed very much and she is one of a kind ❤️

I am sending lots of prayers and love to my childhood friend Schellie and her family. Deb, you have created an amazing legacy that will always be remembered and cherished 💕🙏 You are very loved and much missed and will always be in our hearts. ♥️

A couple years ago Deb asked me to help her memorize a short song so they would release her from speech therapy. (She did not like her speech therapist) so the very strong willed Deb had very colorful language included in her song. We had such a good time laughing and giggling and being silly. Really is such a special memory. I love you and miss you Debbie! Until we see you again. 💕
