

Dennis “Denny” J. DeSotel, 62, of Berthoud, died November 4, 2017 at his home. Denny was born September 18, 1955 in Oelwein, Iowa to Neola (Rodgers) and Clarence DeSotel. He was a 1973 graduate of Fayette High School in Fayette, Iowa. On February 14, 1986 he married Sandra Barnett.
Denny worked in the natural gas field for over 30 years, ending his career as a Senior Field Analyst for Anadarko. Prior to his career in the gas industry he worked on farms in the area.
Denny will be remembered for his ability to communicate with his family and close friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gold panning, knife making and working on cars. Denny liked to barbeque and participated in barbeque competitions. His favorite barbeque competition was one that he helped start 13 years ago at the Moose Lodge. He could often be found enjoying time at the family farm where he and his wife, Sandy, built a cabin where they had planned to retire.
Survivors include his wife Sandra (Sandy) of Berthoud; his sons Mike DeSotel (Corie) of Greeley, CO; Chris Barnett (Amy) of Lafayette, CO and Tony Kot of Dallas, TX; his daughters Tabitha Gale (Jesse) of Longmont, CO and Amber Soehner (Tatt) of Idalia, CO. He is further survived by his sister Wendy Robin Linge of Cedar Rapids, IA, his sister-in-law Shari DeSotel of Colorado and nieces, nephews an aunt and an uncle. There are 12 grandchildren surviving: Riley, Aidan, Alexis, Drew, Malaki, Leyla, Tacey, Ryker, Tatum, Charliann, Bosslee and Brock. Preceding him in death are his parents, his brother Ronald DeSotel and his brother in-law Eric Linge.
He will also be missed by his best friends Terry Evans and Kenny Poppenhagen. Kenny and he talked every Sunday, without fail at 7:00 pm.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
Services will be held at the Moose Lodge, 2200 Pratt Street, Longmont on Saturday, November 11th, 2017 at 12:30 pm.
