Denton K. ""Denny"" Farnsworth of Longmont, Colorado, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Longmont United Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 68 years old.Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Kelly Nicholson of Longmont; daughters, Laura Szejna and her husband, Rick, of Fort Collins, and Lyndsay Farnsworth Dick and her husband, Aaron, of Shawnee, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Nikolas Szejna, and Kamden Dick. He was born March 23, 1941 in Denver, Colorado to Kermit Denny Farnsworth and Ramona (Decker) Farnsworth. Raised in Denver, he graduated from East High School and later earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Colorado State University.Early in his career he worked as a General Manager for Marshall Distributing. He later co-owned and operated The Electric Stampede in Fort Collins. A lifelong learner, Denny found his passion in higher education and technology, spending 20 years as the Director of Financial and Administrative Affairs at EDUCAUSE before retiring in 2008.Denny's adventures led him to scuba diving locations in Cozumel, Cayman Islands, and more. He also enjoyed boating, flying his radio controlled model airplanes, and playing with his Samoyeds, Calvin and Hobbes.A Celebration of Denny's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers Foundation, 1161 South Vivian Street, Lakewood, CO 80228.Please share thoughts, memories and condolences with his family at www.howemortuary.com.
