Dewey passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2026, at the age of 77.
Dewey lived a full and adventurous life marked by hard work, curiosity, and a deep love for travel. He earned his associate degree in business from Front Range Community College. He built a career that reflected both his creativity and dedication, working as a self-employed professional painter before retiring from his Role as a kitchen designer at Home Depot. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years as a submariner. An avid motorcyclist, Dewey embraced the open road and enjoyed many solo adventures, including rides along the Blue Ridge Parkway, tours of the Great Lakes, travels through the southern states, and journeys into Manitoba and Ontario. He also loved traveling with his wife, Donna, and together they made cherished memories visiting places such as Nova Scotia, Alaska, Washington, D.C., Route 66, Italy, and Germany, among many others. Dewey’s goal—and the advice he often shared with others—was to visit all 50 U.S. states, a dream he proudly fulfilled. Dewey also enjoyed many ski trips throughout the years; his love for music was undeniable, and his album collection reflected a lifelong passion as well as his love for photography.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Chiles of Longmont, Colorado; stepchildren Lisa Ecker of South Dakota and David Ecker of Arizona; nephew Ronnie Hutton of Clovis, New Mexico; niece (daughter) Lori Nolan and her husband, Jeremy, of Amarillo, Texas; sisters Mary Case and Rose Ritchie, both of Clovis, New Mexico; sister-in-law Renee Mulvey and her husband, Kevin; many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews in Amarillo, Texas, including Isiah, Alex, Jacob, Lara, Kaidance, Lucas, and great-great nephew Kingston Nolan and Cousin Linda Perilli of Broomfield, CO.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Chiles of Clovis, New Mexico; his niece, Rhonda Hutton of Amarillo, Texas, and his beloved Poco.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Alhberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501.
Dewey fought the good fight and has made it to paradise! He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
