Diane Meine had a warmth about her, a genuine nature that was coupled with a generosity that has become even more evident since her death. Smart, carefree, and a little quirky, Diane didn't live a big life, but a full one nonetheless. During her last weeks, Diane demonstrated a boldness and optimism for going on with her life despite needing a heart transplant. Over the course of her lengthy hospitalization, Diane let her family know how badly she wished to begin a new chapter of her life in the southwest. She loved it there, planning her retirement in the spring of 2016 to a small home she purchased in Sedona, Arizona. Collecting art, pottery, rugs and Kachina dolls to decorate her new home had become her passionate priority for many years. Diane was raised in the Park Hill neighborhood of Denver. She was born May 16, 1961 to Dr. Fred and Carol Meine, the fifth of six children. She attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, and graduated from Machebeuf High School in 1979. Diane received her diploma from Parks Business College two years later. She began a long career as a medical assistant, working for various medical practices in the Denver and Aurora area. Her duties varied with different physicians, and Diane frequently talked about how her experiences in the operating room deepened her interest in medicine. Diane's family spent summers in the mountains, and she was a frequent visitor to her parent's cabin in Grand Lake, CO. In addition to her many trips to Sedona, Diane told about her adventurous salmon fishing trip to Alaska. Diane died on January 20, 2016, a week after a complex pre-transplant surgery. She was 54. Diane was predeceased by both her parents. She is survived by three brothers and their spouses; Bill (Melinda), Jim (Connie), and Tom (Kathleen) Meine. Also surviving are two sisters; Joanna (Rich) Huhman, Janet Meine (Jim Snyder), and ten nieces and nephews, and one grand nephew. Diane had a devoted group of friends that she considered family. Per Diane's wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please honor her by assisting her family in paying for her large medical expenses.
