
Dorothy Daria Stack Makuta Gregorovic, also known as Dotty, daughter of immigrant Carpathian Russian parents, was born on November 11, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York. She was extremely proud of her heritage and shared their history with all who knew her. Dorothy had a BA in Art Education from Adelphi University and taught, among other disciplines, the fine art of Russian Easter Egg creations. She was a onetime model and artist with Barbizon Agency, an insider in the fashion district, secretary to a school principle and a onetime avid roller skater.Dorothy suffered tragedy, losing her first husband, William Makuta, a Navy medic in WWII, father of her two sons William and Peter, at an untimely age. But as the strong woman she was, she went on to become a school principal's secretary and remarry a Marine veteran. Then she earned her BA.Dorothy and her second husband, Andrew Gregorovic, made Longmont, CO their home years ago, after traveling the world. They were volunteers at the Longmont Andy Warhol Museum and active members at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a greeter and lector until she became ill in 2011.Dorothy lived very happily among her friends at Hover Manor, moving there in time to celebrate her 85th birthday, until her passing.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents John and Amelia, her husbands and sister, Olga.Dorothy is survived by her sons and their wives Ellen and Mindy, a step son, Andrew with wife Diane, 3 grand-daughters, Lanar, Lila and J lle, 2 step-grand-sons, Michael and Alex and 2 great grand-daughters, Angelina and Amanda.Funeral services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Saturday, November 2. Casket will be open at 10:30 AM with Mass starting at 11:00 AM in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel.
