

Douglas Paul Bell of Johnstown Colorado passed away on June 28th, 2021 surrounded by family in his home after a hard fought battle with cancer. Doug was born in Longmont, Colorado on March 10th, 1951 to Don and Sarah Bell. He attended Longmont High School and graduated with the class of 1969. He married his high school sweetheart Deb Parson of Longmont on July 7th, 1972. They had two children, Greg and Coleen. Doug served in the Colorado Army National Guard after high school. Doug worked as a paper boy when he was young, was a Produce Manager at Albertsons, and then worked at Rocky Flats in Golden for 35 years, retiring in 2005.
Doug loved spending time with his family which brought him so much joy in life. For many years, he enjoyed playing coed softball with his family. Doug also enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, Jimmy Buffett concerts, golfing, and was an avid corn hole player (2019 O’Riley Clan champion). Throughout the years, Doug belonged to the Longmont Elks Lodge and the Johnstown/Milliken Lions Club. He also volunteered at Centennial Elementary and Cache La Poudre Middle School. Doug was diagnosed with cancer in February of 2018. He was determined to live life to his fullest and had such a positive and optimistic attitude. He was always looking forward to the next adventure.
Doug was preceded in death by his father and mother, Don and Sarah Bell and sister Judi Nord and various family members. He is survived by his wife, Deb Bell of Johnstown; his son Greg Bell of Wellington (Misha); his daughter Coleen Campbell of Johnstown (Matt); his four grandkids Mackenzie Stacey (Logan), Trevor Bell, Seth and Ainsley Campbell; his great grandson Finnegan Stacey; brother-in-law Mike Nord and sister-in-law Judi Parson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In the words of Jimmy Buffett, “Breathe in....Breathe out...Move on” and “If there’s a heaven for me, I’m sure it has a beach attached’.
Please join us on Thursday, July 8th, at 4pm for a Memorial Service at Ted’s Sweetwater Grill and Trout Pond in Windsor.
We will have a Celebration of Life immediately following the Memorial Service until 10pm. Appetizers and drinks will be provided. Please dress in your Beach/Hawaiian attire and flip flops. If you cannot join us for the Memorial Service, please stop by anytime during the evening for a drink, dance and share a memory of Doug.
