

Douglas Allen Scanlon, of Lyons, Colorado, died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Longmont United Hospital following a brief illness. He was 46 years old.Doug was born June 9, 1959 in Flint, Michigan, to George Bernard and Betty Jean (Donaski) Scanlon. After graduating from Swartz Creek High School in 1977 and attending the University of Michigan, he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked for several years for United Express.On February 13, 1988, he married Catherine Babon in Walled Lake Michigan. The couple made their homes in Chicago and Walled Lake before moving to Longmont in 1996 and to Lyons in 2001.Mr. Scanlon was a dedicated father, served as a school volunteer, had coached soccer for several seasons and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a true ""blue"" University of Michigan football fan, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity and as a loving father, husband and friend.Survivors include his two children, Amanda Lee Scanlon and Alex Dante Scanlon of Lyons; mother, Betty Jean Scanlon of Swartz Creek, Michigan; former wife, Cathy Babon of Lyons, Colorado; brother, Donald Scanlon of Seattle, Washington; and two sisters, Diane Kuuttila and her husband, Eric, of Farmington, Michigan and Doreen Scanlon of Berkley, Michigan.Doug was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at Howe Mortuary, Longmont. A Christian Burial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1st, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Longmont.
