Duane was born on December 19th, 1934, in Scribner, Nebraska to Leon and Anna Larsen. He grew up on a farm in Fremont, Nebraska with his 2 siblings. He worked very hard to do his share of work around the farm.
He served his country with honor in the United States Army, where he learned many things and created lasting relationships.
After graduating high school, he completed 2 years at an electronic school near him. After his education he enjoyed a profession as a quality assurance technician, and went on to retire after 35 years with AT&T.
Duane married Joanne Larsen on June 15, 1958, in Fremont, Nebraska. Together they raised their 2 boys and eventually settled in Colorado in 1971. His boys remember him as a caring dad, who showed his love by taking them on trips to the mountains in their motor home, and Carter Lake on his boat. He provided for his family with his hard work and love.
In his downtime, he enjoyed attending church at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he remained a member for 55 years. One of his favorite pastimes was telling stories and jokes, often while off on a fishing trip with his friends in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. He also very much enjoyed reading the newspaper and eating ice cream. One of his hobbies included working on his 92’ Mazda pickup, that he joked that he wanted to be buried in! Overall, he enjoyed every moment shared with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Duane is survived by his wife, Joanne Larsen; his sons Daniel Larsen; Jeffrey (Amy) Larsen; his grandchildren Nathan Larsen and Ryan Larsen.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leon and Anna Larsen; his siblings Mildred (Don) Paseka; Eugene (Sharon) Larsen.
In lieu of flowers his family asks that donations be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
