Ed Newport

Ed Newport passed away June 28, 2018 at The TRU Hospice Care Center in Longmont. He was 76 years old.Ed was born on July 24, 1941 in Cyril, Oklahoma to Oscar and Alma N. (Moss) Newport. He grew up in Weed, California where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dad. Ed graduated from Weed High School in 1959, and later from Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri.Ed joined the Army and was later honorably discharged.On November 8, 1985 he married Sally Ann Thompson in Kansas City, Missouri. While living in Kansas City Ed worked in landscaping, maintaining and designing lawns; he also handled all the landscaping for one of the largest developers in Kansas City.In August of 1998 Ed and Sally moved to Longmont, Colorado. In Colorado Ed worked as a security guard for Alliance Data in Broomfield and also a Lowes.Ed belonged to Calvary Church in Longmont. He was very knowledgeable about the Bible and enjoyed reading it every day. In his free time Ed like working in the yard and gardening.He was preceded in death by his parents and his three dogs Sam, Gizmo and Goldie.Ed is survived by his wife Sally; his sons Steve (Janet) Newport and Mike (Rose) Newport; his step-children John (Ginger) Burns, Michele Burns and Mary Burns; is grandchildren Austin, Elyse and Jacob Newport and Makenzie, Emma and Logan Burns.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday July 7, 2018 at Calvary Church.
