

Edgar Frank Rothe passed away March 26th, 2008 from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 60. He was born April 7th, 1947 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Frank Adams and Ruth Henderson Rothe.Ed's childhood years were spent on a ranch in Canada and moved stateside at the age of eight. His youth and teen years were spent in Seattle, WA. He served a Mission in the Great Lakes Area for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ed received his Bachelors degree from BYU in 1971, and a Masters from the University of Colorado in 1987. After his marriage to LuAnn Ludlow in March of 1972, Ed flew fighter jets for the United States Air Force for seven years. The family moved to Longmont in 1978 and Ed ran a successful nursery business with his father and son-in-laws for 28 years. He retired from the business in November of 2006.Ed lived a full life and did everything from A to Z (Airplanes to Zambonis). His interests and hobbies included spending time with his family, boating, skiing, traveling, golfing, playing softball and basketball. He also worked for the Colorado Rockies organization during their World Series run in 2007. His last moments were spent playing shortstop for the Denver Scrap Iron 60's traveling team at a tournament in Mesquite, Nevada.Ed had just celebrated 36 years of marriage to his soul mate, LuAnn, on Sunday, March 23rd. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his favorite callings were seminary teaching, gospel doctrine teaching, and working with the youth and young adults.Ed is survived by his wife LuAnn; two sons, Brandon and Melissa Rothe of Seattle, WA and Curtis and Laura Rothe of Firestone, CO; two daughters, Andilyn and J.J. Brockert of Longmont, CO and Meggan and Jon Hulme of Dacono, CO; three grandchildren, Lucy and Conor Rothe, and Vanessa Brockert. He is also survived by his mother Ruth Rothe of Pleasant Grove, UT; and his three sisters, Apryl and Gary Nish of Cardston, Canada; Paula and Ted Cox of Pleasant Grove, UT; and Joanne and Jim Williams of Vancouver, WA. Ed was preceded in death by his father, Frank Adams Rothe.A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary with family present. Funeral services will be held at the Lyons Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Monday, March 31st at 11:00 a.m. (200 2nd Ave., Lyons). Interment will follow at the Lyons Cemetery following the services. He loved his family more than anything, and now he knows how much we love him.
