Edith Steinbach, 54 of Longmont, CO passed away on November 14, 2018.Edith was born May 4, 1964 in Boswil, Switzerland to Jakob and Klara (Brem) Werder.Growing up, Edith was an avid handball player and loved skiing in the mountains with friends and family. In 1992, she packed a few belongings and moved across the world from Switzerland to Longmont, Colorado. She loved the climate very much and remained in Longmont ever since. On July 31, 1993 she married her best friend and the love of her life, Michael Steinbach in Peaceful Valley, Colorado. Together, Edith and Mike created a beautiful life full of laughter, pranks, and love. She worked her way up in nutritional services and dedicated her time and energy to making creative and tasty meals for elementary and middle school aged children. She loved each student and accommodated to each student as best is possible in a school kitchen. On the weekends, Edith enjoyed watching her children participate in sports. She never missed a game and made sure her kids remembered to run faster. She woke up early, drove the minivan, and became a cheerleader. After her kids left for college, Edith loved going on motorcycle trips around the US, Mexico and Canada with Mike. She was adventurous, loved seeing new places, and never turned down the opportunity to try something new.Edith always found room in her home and in her heart to adopt new animals and bring them into the family. She went so far as to volunteer at the Humane Society during her spare time, making sure that those animals felt the same love as the ones in her home. She was a woman who was completely her own. She was always true to being herself, by creating a positive environment for everyone around her. She radiated love and honesty and was loyal to her friends and family. Edith always found a way to discover light in dark places, and uplifted the spirits of each room she set foot into. Whether that was by her smile, by her bright sparkling eyes, by her positive attitude to life, by making a sarcastic comment, by showing her competitiveness, or by listening, she made the lives of those who were lucky enough to know her, better.Edith was preceded in death by her mother, Klara Werder. She is survived by her husband Mike Steinbach; her children Manuel and Marion Steinbach; her siblings Yvonne Ruckstuhl and Markus Werder, and her father Jakob Werder. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
