

Edward Allyn Arnold, 84, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away December 2, 2019 at Balfour Wilshire, Louisville, Colorado from congestive heart failure. Ed was born in Greencastle, Indiana to Jeanetta (Gasaway) and Lloyd Arnold on September 13, 1935.Ed graduated in the class of 1953 from Greencastle High School, Indiana. Ed enlisted in the Army in 1953 with his brother, Marvin. Ed was honorably discharged as a Corporal in Company G 151st Infantry from the National Guard of Indiana and as a reserve of the United States Army in March 1956. Ed was appointed as Private First Class in the United States Marine Corps reserve in April 1956 and was honorably discharged as acting Sergeant of the 8th Engineer Battalion, FMF, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in 1958 as a Radio Telegraph Operator.Ed started with IBM in Greencastle, Indiana, as a shipping clerk. He later worked in order entry and then in personnel before transferring to Boulder, Colorado in 1965, as a safety engineer. Ed next went into management in IRD then into purchasing as a buyer in plastics mission procurement. Ed retired from IBM in 1991 then continued for several years as an IBM contractor.Ed loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking his family on memorable camping trips to California, Florida, Michigan and Indiana in his 32' trailer. He loved listening and singing along to jazz music, was fascinated with clocks and vintage cars, enjoyed woodworking, was a voracious reader of history and obituaries. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Marvin.Ed will be missed by his former wife and mother of his daughters, O. Kaye (Ames) Arnold, of Edwards, Colorado; his loving daughters, Rebecca Kaye Arnold of Edwards, Colorado and Debra Kaye Arnold of Lakewood, Colorado; his grandson, Bryan Wood Salyers of Longmont, Colorado; and younger sister, Linda (Jack) Wheeler, of Cloverdale, Indiana.Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado will take place at 2:30 PM Friday January 3, 2020; please meet at staging area B.
