Edward (Moon) Thomas Navarro of Longmont, Colorado passed away on December 31st at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette after a long and courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born on August 18, 1953 in Pueblo, Colorado to Adrian and Marie (Belen) Navarro. He was the third eldest child of nine.
After graduating from Pueblo South, Edward left Pueblo to attend and obtain his Juris Doctorate at the University of Colorado- Boulder. It is while attending CU that Edward met the love of his life, Gertrude (Trudy) Navarro. Ed graduated from CU in 1974 and graduated again from CU Law in 1980. Ed and Trudy were married on August 23rd, 1980.
They made their home in Longmont and raised their two children, Emily and Edward (Lucky). Ed was a long-time Attorney in Longmont. He was also an active volunteer with various organizations such as the Women’s Crisis Shelter Center, Stephen Ministries, Hospice, and a co-founder of El Comité. When Edward was not working or volunteering, he was out pursuing his passion of photography. He spent many years taking photos for Niwot High School, CU Basketball, the Left-Hand Courier, the Special Olympics softball teams, and various other high school and collegiate teams and family and friends.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Trudy, and his four granddaughters Courtney, Olivia, Zoey, and Carmen. He will be greatly missed.
Ed is survived by his wife, Trudy Navarro of Longmont, daughter Emily (Eric) Marcellus of Longmont, son Lucky Navarro of Longmont, four granddaughters Courtney, Olivia, Zoey, and Carmen, his brothers John (Cindy) Navarro of Mesa, Arizona, Esteban Navarro of California, Fred Navarro of Pueblo, Colorado, and Charles Navarro of Pueblo, Colorado, his sisters Nancy Montoya of Pueblo, Colorado and Sara (Amy) Navarro of Pinewood Springs, Colorado along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Adrian, mother, Belen, brother, David, and sister, Mary.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lafayette, CO. Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
