Eileen Fae Baughman Hoover, age 80, of Fort Lupton, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, surrounded by her family, due to cancer. Eileen is survived by her four daughters, Karla Nalley, Kristi Leonard, Rody Schultz, Sheila Hanson; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
Eileen was born and raised in central Kansas, but her life took her around the world, having lived everywhere from New Mexico to California to Japan. Eileen primarily worked as a bank teller, but also enjoyed working with Child Protection Services in Grand Forks, North Dakota until she retired. Throughout her life, Eileen was an avid reader, and loved crosswords and quiz shows. If you caught her on a Tuesday night, she would be reading two to three books, answering every question on Wheel of Fortune and working on a crossword simultaneously.
Eileen loved to be with her children and grandchildren and was known to take long road trips to make sure to never miss one of their sporting or school events. Eileen, spent over 50 years sitting in the stands at cross country and track meets, basketball, soccer, and volleyball games, theater and, musical performances supporting them in their activities. You could find her at every event saying, “Good job, keep it up!” Even in the rain she would be found bundled up in the stands and cheering on the team. These events brought her great joy and she continued to attend plays and track meets even after her children and grandchildren had graduated. Eileen volunteered with the Mileage Club at Turner Middle School in Berthoud. She counted laps the students ran at lunchtime and gave them prizes for every mile they ran or walked. In her last week of life, Eileen introduced herself to her nurses as the “Mileage Lady.”
Eileen was loyal, fiercely independent, and selfless. She didn’t like to ask for help, but offered her assistance whenever was needed. Eileen moved all around the country to assist her daughters or grandchildren when needed, never being asked just knowing that a helping hand was needed. She always put the needs of others ahead of herself and valued time with her family. She loved to tell stories of her childhood living on a farm in rural Kansas. She would brag on her daughters and grandchildren as much as she could, sharing pictures of graduations, new babies and trips to anyone she met.
A memorial service in Eileen’s honor will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Wyndham Hill Clubhouse 6401 Saratoga Trail in Frederick, Colorado.
The family is asking friends and family to wear bright colors like Eileen always did.
