Elaine S. Gillum

Elaine S. Gillum of Longmont passed away peacefully on July 21,2020 from complications of Parkinsons Disease. She was 82. She was born to Lawrence and Lucille Stein in Lewiston, Maine on August 6, 1937.

Elaine grew up in Cotuit, Massachusetts on Cape Cod and graduated from Barnstable High School. She married Arthur Bragan, a member of the United States Air Force, in 1956. They had 5 children and lived at Air Force bases in Massachusetts, Maine, Colorado, Japan, and Washington D.C. Elaine and Arthur divorced while living in Virginia.

She married T.O. Gillum of Madison Mills, Virginia in 1977. She helped out at his general store and worked at the small post office there. After his death she moved to Lillian, Alabama and finally to Colorado where several of her children resided. She worked at the Boulder Red Cross office before retirement.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and husbands. Elaine is survived by her children, Patricia Bragan of Longmont, Deborah Terrell of Lafayette, Lisa Cook of Longmont, Ronald (Debbie) Bragan of Orange Virginia, and Lynn Bragan of Longmont. Also her stepchildren, Debbie (W.H.) Dudley of Culpeper Virginia and Marshall (Shelley) Gillum of Orange Virginia. She was grandmother to Joshua (Cristin), Michael, Tommy, Brian, Nina (Mitch), Lauren, Robert, Marie, Eric, Sarah, Mary and John Marshall. She was a great grandmother to Landon, Thomas, Michael, Samuel, John, Thaddeus and Joshua. Elaine is also survived by her sisters, Pat (Dave) Ives of Lillian Alabama, Charlotte Cutter of Dallas Georgia and Laura Malek of Pensacola Florida. Three pets will greatly miss her: cats Oliva and Duncan, and dog Valentino.

Elaine was an avid reader and before Parkinsons affected her, an excellent seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.

A celebration of life will be held at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, on Saturday July 25 at 3:00 PM.
