
Ervin (Slim) Harmon, 96, died at Longmont United Hospital Thursday, January 14, 2016. Ervin Albert Harmon was born May 14, 1919 in Shawnee, North Dakota south of Niagara, ND. Ervin enlisted in the Army on November 27, 1940 at Fort Wright, Washington. He was eventually assigned to the 10th Mountain Division, 87th Battalion, B Company. Ervin received the Purple Heart during World War II. Ervin met his future wife, Ella Branum at Camp Swift, TX and they were married November 18, 1944. Following his discharge from the Army they lived and farmed in Petersburg, ND before moving to the Casselton, ND area in 1963. Ervin farmed for Mr. E. Vining and later worked at Grant Madsen and RDO John Deere dealership.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Florence (Branum) and is survived by their three sons: Ronald (Marge), Bismarck, ND, Virgil (Conchita), Erie, CO, Neil, Fargo, ND; and their two daughters, Teresa (Robert) Roessel, Janesville, WI, Gayle (James) Coleman, Newport News, VA; a brother, Lesley, Albert Lee, MN.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
VISITATION: Friday, January 29, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00PM in the West Funeral Chapel, Casselton, ND.
