Esther Margaret Clingan

Esther Margaret Clingan, of Longmont, Colorado, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 96 years old.Esther was born September 5, 1911 in Denver, Colorado, to Olaf Frederick and Betty Olivia (Monson) Wassen. On December 24, 1930, she married Harry A. Clingan in Denver. The couple raised their family in Ridgway and the Denver area before moving to Longmont in 1946.As a young mother, Mrs. Clingan was active with her children's school and 4H activities and later, the Army-Navy Mother's Club. She was a talented seamstress and canned fruits and vegetables from the family garden. Her family and her church were foremost in her life. She was a very active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had a caring and giving heart, and touched many lives.Survivors include her son, Frank Clingan of Waunakee, Wisconsin; two daughters, Lois Bond and her husband, George, of Torrance, California, and May Carsten and her husband, Charles, of Del Rio, Texas; six grandchildren, Frank T. Clingan and his wife, Vicki, of Beloit, Wisconsin, George Bond, Jr. and Ella of Lambertville, New Jersey, Allen Bond and his wife, Wendy, of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Barbara Bond-Moury and her husband, Clayton, of Oxford, Pennsylvania, Ken Bond and his wife, Lorri, of Voorhees, New Jersey, and Charles ""Jake"" Carsten of Austin, Texas. She is further survived by 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her very special friends, Chris and George Goble of Longmont.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on October 17, 1999; a sister, Emma Wonder; and her daughter-in-law, Margaret Clingan.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Berke officiating. Inurnment will be at Ryssby Cemetery.
