

Born February 15, 1927 at Salt Lake City, Utah; given the name of Esther Eileen Hansen. Per parents Anna H. Eilersen and Holger P.V. Hansen, were both born in Denmark, immigrating to the United States in their youth.
She enjoyed growing up in Salt Lake City, attending grade schools, graduating from East High School in 1944. Her parents instilled in her the need for self-reliance, as well as gracious living.
After graduation she was employed by ZCMI department stores, appointed as manager of the large candy department.
In 1951 she married Marv Roper in the Salt Lake Temple. As he was in the military during the Korean War, they lived in various places in the United States. After the war they lived in California for many years, moving to Colorado in 1969, a resident of Longmont until her passing.
A gifted person who excelled in so many fields such as homemaking, art, poetry, quilting and service to her church and others. She had many callings during her life among them a Relief Society President, Stake Missionary, etc. With her husband she served two missions in Africa, Cape Town South Africa and the Harare Zimbabwe missions.
She is survived by her husband Marv, sons Terry (Ann), Douglas (Becky), Trevor (Joanne), Blair (Tamera) and Hugh (Michele); daughters Marva (Steve Pixton) and Karen (Douglas Sutherby); brothers Grant, Richard and Robert; sisters Vivian and Eva; thirty four grandchildren and thirty six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1721 Red Cloud Road, Longmont, CO. A view will be held that morning at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
