Felix 'phil' Andrew Gomez

Felix ""Phil"" Andrew Gomez of Milliken, CO, died at his home on July 7, 2008. He was 61.Phil was born October 28, 1946 in Lafayette, Colorado, to Manuel and Elsie (Fresquez) Gomez. He grew up and attended school in Lafayette. Phil married Leyann Rethke in Boulder, CO on October 23, 1971. The family lived in Longmont before moving to Milliken 13 years ago. Phil was a contract painter and was self-employed. He grew up in the Catholic Church. Phil enjoyed fishing and gardening, cruising the backcountry roads and being with his grandkids. For over ten years, Phil was a foster parent for children with disabilities and worked with the Bal Swan Children's Center in Broomfield.Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Joe, and sisters, Carmela Gomez and Josephine Vigil.He is survived by his wife, Leyann of Milliken; two sons, Brandon and Phil; two daughters: Ericka and Carmella; his children-in-law, Tami, Samuel, and Abe; five brothers, Salvador, Manuel, Mark, Robert, and Frank; three sisters, RuthAnn, Cecilia ""Lala"", and Christina; and eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Xavier, Zachary, Maleaque, Angelina, Aliyah, Abram Jr., and Nevaeh.Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008 at Howe Mortuary in Longmont from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary with Reverend Carlos Mauritz officiating.
