2024. He was 87.
Forrest was born in Trinidad, CO on July 21,1937. He graduated from Trinidad High School and also
attended Trinidad State Junior College and Colorado School of Mines. He was in the Naval reserves
for 8 years.
Forrest married his first, and only love, M. Evonne Bloxsom, on August 19, 1961, in Glorieta, NM.
They lived in Santa Fe, then Colorado Springs, and moved to Longmont in 1965. Forrest taught high
school machine shop for a year and then became a machinist at Ball Brothers in Boulder. Then he
worked for the National Bureau of Standards in Boulder and retired on disability in 1999.
In his younger days, Forrest enjoyed photography and was a member of the Longmont Camera Club.
He printed the family black and white photos in his own dark room. He and Evonne were part of the
founding members of La Garita Landowners Association near Weston, CO where they took the family
tent camping on their own 10 acres of property, and eventually built a cabin. Forrest was a member of
the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He taught Hunters Safety classes for
several years. He and Evonne enjoyed playing cards with the neighbors.
Forrest was an amazing husband and father. He taught his 3 girls how to use tools, shoot a gun, work
on their bicycles, do basic auto maintenance, and fish. He was never idle, only watched a little TV
(Heehaw was his favorite program), and didn’t care much about professional sports. Evonne, and his
neighbor, Kay, got him to watch some Broncos games. When he retired, he took up reading westerns
and mysteries. When Evonne passed away, Forrest learned to sew, and made quilts for his grandkids.
Forrest was preceded in death by his wife, M. Evonne, and both parents, Forrest E. and Tressie
Teegarden. He is survived by 3 daughters: Kimberly Focken of Longmont, Kodi Fidler (Brent) of
Loveland, and Karri Funkhouser (Scott) of Longmont; adopted family: Paul and Teresa Litman of
Longmont; grandchildren: Kristen, Kayla, Brandon, Karissa, Kiera, Jerek, and Emma; great
grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Kendra, Dominic, and Daemen; and his sister, Carol Schleich, of Trinidad,
CO.
