

Frances attended school in PA. She went to St. Luke School of nursing in PA and became a Registered Nurse in 1951. She began her career in a New York hospital. She met her Husband in 1956 and they began their family in 1957 with her first child. In 1959 the new family moved to Los Angles to be closer to her family. In 1966 the family of now 4 children moved to Colorado where they had their 5th child. Frances continued her career as an RN at Longmont United Hospital in the Emergency Department from 1969-1977. In 1977 she began working for Eventide caring for the elderly. In 1984 she changed careers to be with her family more by taking care of adults who were disabled and/or elderly. She donated a lot of her time to helping those in need. She helped frequently with the Good News Center and Rocky Mountain Christian Church.
Frances learned to play the piano when she was 10. She certainly enjoyed playing the piano for the entirety of her life. She also loved to sing and was part of not only the church choir but also part of Sweet Adelines High County Chorus. Her Chorus won the international competition taking home the gold medal in Hawaii on October 2, 1987. Frances also loved to watercolor and oil painting, usually ocean scenes as she loves the ocean. She began painting at the age of 47 and was very passionate about her painting.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband Earl Hartman who passed in 1987, her daughter Leslie Hartman who passed in 1993 and her Grandson Jonathan Hartman in 2004. She is survived by a multitude of family that includes her four loving children David Hartman of Longmont CO; Lisa (Mark) Howe of Aurora CO; Karen Hartman of Longmont CO and Johnie (Len) McGowan of Delta CO. Her beloved grand children Paul (Amy), Amie (Jim), Rachel (Tonya), Desiree, Rosemary and 12 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place on April 14th at 4:30pm at the Longmont Senior Center. We will have a pot luck following. We are also offering a small houseplant exchange (Bring a plant, take a plant) in her memory. If you would like to contribute to one or both of these you are more than welcome. If you would like to just come and celebrate with us please feel free to do that as well.
