
Frank L. Novak passed away April 6th, 2016 after enjoying lunch with 2 desserts. Born in Chicago to Frank and Elise Novak. He spent his early years in the Chicago area and became a lifelong Cubs fan. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force, training as a pilot, later obtaining a degree in civil engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.Always curious, Frank was an avid reader and part-time inventor. As a civil engineer he was instrumental in the design of water projects that today are used by thousands in Florida, Colorado, Alaska, Wyoming and Texas.Frank married Joyce Muisenga in 1952 in Chicago and had 3 children, Karen, Tim and Lisa. In 1972, Frank and family moved from south Florida to Boulder, CO seeking a drier climate. His family soon established roots and now considers Colorado home.In 1982, Frank seized an opportunity to work for ARCO Oil and Gas and moved to Dallas, Texas. There, in 1989, he married for a second time, to Sally, they remained married until her death in 1994.Frank was fascinated by airplanes, attending air shows wherever they took place. Although he didn't have a dog of his own he loved his furry friends Kramer, Maddie, Zachary, Mallory, Beaux, Charlie, Tess, Kinze and Hannah, they will miss his generous belly rubs, head pats and treats.Frank is survived by his first wife and friend, Joyce Novak, long time friend Barb Mooney, son-in-law Ron Brew, son Tim Novak (Cina), daughter Lisa Boomershine (Tim), granddaughters Amber Burns (Allyn) and Justine Brew, and great grand daughters Rylee, Lillian and Olivia. Frank was preceded in death by his second wife Sally, daughter Karen and sister Jane.The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at Park Regency Assisted Living in Thornton for taking such great care of Frank these last few months.Funeral services will be Saturday, April 16th at 1pm, Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont CO 80501.
