

Fred Tafoya, 68 of Denver, died October 15, 2009 at Boulder Manor in Boulder, Colorado.Fred was born February 26, 1941 in Salida, Colorado-the son of Edward and Delia (Vargas) Tafoya.Fred enjoyed cooking for his friends and family, golfing, and the outdoors. He was employed at and managed the kitchen at Gala Gardens in Commerce City for over 25 years. He will be remembered for his outstanding generosity, friendship and his mouth-watering Prime Rib. Fred is survived by his daughters Kim (John) Traxinger, and their children Shannon and Justin of Longmont, Kelly (Mike) Collier and their son Van of Henderson, Kerry (John) Woodmansee and their son Jak of Arvada. He is further survived by his mother Delia (Vargas) Tafoya of Boulder; his siblings Bill Tafoya-Ft. Collins, Dorothy Graham-Utah, Robert and Elmer Tafoya-Boulder, Nellie Hoffschneider-Arvada, Virginia Burt-Louisville, Ted Tafoya-Louisville and Mable Stewart-Gunbarrel. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Tafoya, brothers Edward Tafoya, Jr., Ben, Tom and sister Viola Tafoya.A visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20 at Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21 at Faith Community Lutheran Church. Services will conclude with a reception at the Church. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
