Born on June 27, 1940, in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Eugene Frederick Oliver and Helen Inis Pearson Oliver, Gail spent her early childhood in Grand Junction before her family moved to Wymore, Nebraska. She graduated from Wymore High School in 1958.
A gifted musician with a lifelong passion for teaching, Gail began her studies in music education at the University of Kansas, attending from 1958 to 1960. She then transferred to the University of Nebraska, where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education in 1962 and her Master of Music Education in 1964. During her graduate studies, she also served as an assistant woodwinds instructor.
Gail dedicated much of her life to inspiring others through music education. She taught in the St. Vrain Valley School District from 1968 to 1971 before spending the majority of her teaching career with the Park R-3 School District in Estes Park, Colorado, where
she served until her retirement in 1998.
Her dedication and excellence as an educator were recognized through numerous honors, including Park R-3 Teacher of the Year in 1982, Honorable Mention for Colorado Teacher of the Year in 1989, and Employee of the Month and Performance Incentive Awards in 1991.
Retirement certainly didn't mean the end of Gail's musical contributions. She continued sharing her gifts and passion for music, directing the Celebration Singers in Longmont for seven years before going on to lead the Traditional Worship Choir at LifeBridge Christian Church. She also regularly shared her beautiful flute playing during worship services, using her musical talents to encourage and inspire others.

Longmont and served on the Colorado Omega State Music Committee, continuing her lifelong commitment to education, music, and the encouragement of others.
On September 12, 1969, Gail married the love of her life, Raymond Fray, at Boulder Valley Christian Church in Boulder, Colorado. The couple spent their first year of marriage in Longmont before making their home in Estes Park, where they built a life together.
Gail was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond; her parents, Eugene and Helen Oliver; and her dear Aunt Janet Pearson, who was more like a sister to her.
While Gail leaves behind no immediate family, she was surrounded by a remarkable community of cherished friends, many of whom considered her part of their own families. These friendships were a beautiful reflection of the love, kindness, generosity, and the joy she shared throughout her life.
Gail's legacy lives on in the countless students she taught, the musicians she encouraged, the choirs she directed, the friendships she treasured, and the many lives made richer by knowing her.
Though her earthly song has come to an end, the beautiful melody of her life will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Gail’s life will be held at Ahlberg’s funeral chapel in Longmont CO, located at 326 Terry Street Longmont, 80501 CO on November the 6th @ 10 AM.
