

Gary L. Taylor of Longmont, died October 25, 2007 at Presbyterian/St. Luke?s Medical Center, Denver. He was 58. Gary was born on February 9, 1949 in Denver. He moved to Longmont with his parents Duane V. Taylor and Freda M. Ewing Taylor, attending schools in Longmont. He graduated from Longmont High School where he was active in sports, both playing and coaching. He would continue in athletics as a referee for many years. Gary also enjoyed broadcasting football and basketball games in later years.Gary was recruited to play football at Ft. Hays State University. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree. At the University of Northern Colorado, he received both his Master?s Degree in psychology, guidance and counseling and a Doctorate of Education focusing on curriculum and instruction.On June 26, 1982, in Las Animas, Colorado, Gary married Nettie Ratzlaff.Gary taught and coached in Frederick where he later became acting principal. He then transferred to Bill Reed Junior High in Loveland where he was assistant principal.In 1982, Gary made a career change, joining the real estate field. He was a member of the team that purchased and organized the Pratt Group in Longmont. This later became Coldwell-Banker Preferred Realty and was most recently acquired by ERA Tradewind. He was a born leader, proven through teaching and administration as well as partnering in real estate companies. He was active in the Longmont Board of Realtors, Colorado Association of Realtors, and the National Board of Realtors. He enjoyed experiences traveling to Washington D.C. on behalf of the Longmont Board of Realtors. He was an active participant in the Republican Party, both locally and statewide. Gary was a loyal and loving member of New Creation Church. He was a dedicated usher there for the past 20 years.Gary?s motivation was planning and providing for his family?s future. His guide was the Lord Jesus Christ.Preceding Gary in death were his parents.Surviving are his wife of Longmont, daughter Stacie Taylor of Lynchburg, Virginia, son Matthew of Longmont, and numerous cousins.A visitation will be held Monday, October 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present. The casket will remain closed at services.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at New Creation Church, with Pastor Mario Latini officiating.
