
George R. GREGG, Jr., 72, of Longmont, Colorado, died January 3, 2007 at Longmont United Hospital.George was born on December 31, 1934 in Faribault, Minnesota to George R. and Dorothy (Nelson) Gregg. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa and then attended Drake University in Des Moines. George served in the United States Army and the Air Force Reserves.He married Audriene ?Audi? Amandus on November 2, 1957 in the Gowrie United Methodist Church and enjoyed 46 years together. They lived in Germany in 1958 ? 59 where George was stationed with the U. S. Army and then returned to Des Moines, Iowa to make their home. He worked in the concrete business, was a radio personality and real estate agent.George was politically involved in many of the communities where he and Audi lived including Lamar, Colorado, and Gunnison, Colorado and served as Mayor of Rocky Ford, Colorado. He enjoyed fishing, collecting stamps and coins, and was a history buff. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.His wife and parents preceded Mr. Gregg in death.Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Pickett and husband Steven of Las Vegas, Nevada; his son Jeffrey and his wife Jimme of Longmont, and by four grandchildren: Cori Pickett of Durango, Colorado, Melissa Pickett of Las Vegas, Nevada, Trisha Gregg of Hayes, Kansas, and Drew Gregg of Longmont, Colorado.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 7 at 2:30 p.m. at Howe Mortuary in Longmont with David Bradshaw officiating. Members of the United States Army will give military honors. A reception will follow the service. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Howe Mortuary.Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 5353 West Dartmouth Avenue, Suite 400, Denver, CO 80227.
