

George was born in Canfield, Colorado on April 26, 1927 to Kikutaro Mayeda and Yukino Hiraoka Mayeda. The family moved to what became the family farm, east of Longmont in 1934. He would finish his schooling here, graduating from Longmont High School in 1945.
He joined his father and brother Johnny, forming Mayeda Farms, working until 1989, when they sold the property to various investors. He married Sumiye Nishida in September 1950, in Longmont.
George was a sports enthusiast, participating in many bowling leagues, playing golf and skiing with good friends and family. He passionately followed the Denver Bears, Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies.
Surviving are his wife of Longmont; four sons Bruce (Darlene Thomen) Mayeda of Cypress, California; Alan (Renie) Mayeda of Greeley; Steve Mayeda of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Jack (Patty) Mayeda of Highlands Ranch; four daughters Patty (Kasa) Kasadate of Walnut, California; Carol Mayeda of Longmont; Kathy Mayeda of Thornton; and Linda (Ross) Sakaguchi of Broomfield; two sisters May Yamada of Wheatridge and Ruby Tanaka Westminster; 7 grandchildren Scott Mayeda and his son Richard; Jared (Jaime Kamada) Mayeda and children Taylor and Colin; Nicole (Keith Kroschel) Mayeda and children Vanessa and Tristen; Roslyn (Robert) Denzer; Eric Mayeda; Miye Kasadate; Kevin Sakaguchi; Bryan (Anna Schroeder) Salazar and children Bryson and Shane; and Tommy Thomen.
Visitation hours will be held from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21 at the Howe Community Room.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, August 23 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.
