George "Bob" Robert Page

Bob was born on February 7, 1939, in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico, to Nelson and Sophie Page. He grew up to be a talented athlete, attending Borger High School, where he excelled in football and track. As quarterback, he earned a full scholarship to the University of Oklahoma, where he helped the Sooners win the Orange Bowl. He went on to earn both his Bachelor of Science and master’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering and later continued his studies at the Colorado School of Mines while working toward his Ph.D.

In May 1959, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Beckley Page. Together, they built a life filled with love, hard work, family, and plenty of adventure. Barbara was his partner in every sense of the word, and their marriage remained at the heart of Bob’s life for more than six decades.

Bob began his professional career with Martin Marietta, working as an aerospace engineer and helping design the Saturn V rocket. In 1972, he and Barbara partnered with Ansen Garnsey to purchase Stokes Canning. Two years later, Bob and Barbara became the sole owners. In 1981, they acquired Ellis Food, forming Stokes Ellis Foods, which became an important part of their family and community until its sale in 1998.

For Bob, though, work was never the whole story. His passion for football continued long after his own playing days. For 22 years, he coached his three sons—and many friends—in the AYL Little League program. His teams were known for working hard, playing fair, and winning a lot of games. Bob was the kind of coach who taught much more than football, and the lessons he passed along stayed with his players long after they left the field.

Bob enjoyed skiing, golfing, and fishing with friends and family. In his later years, some of his happiest moments came from playing with his grandchildren and gathering with family.

Bob had a big personality and a big heart. He was a devoted husband and father and a proud grandfather. Bob never lost his love for the Sooners and continued to sing the “Boomer Sooner” fight song well into his later years.

Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Tom Page, Jim Page, Josie Moody, Sophie Loftin, Delores Snowden, Francis Larson, and Eddy Page.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his sons, Rob Page (Ingrid Wolfe), Charlie Page (Marty Page), and David Page (Jennifer Page); his grandchildren, Maddi Page, Mallory Page, Beck Page, Connor Page, Davis Page, and Boden Page; and his great-great-grandchild, Carter McDondle.

He will be missed!
