

Gerald E. ‘Jerry’ Buchholz of Longmont died November 24, 2024, at Hover Green Houses Skilled Nursing. He was 85. Jerry was born June 5, 1939, in Tripoli, Iowa to Marjorie (Lee) and Clifford Buchholz. His family moved to Greeley, Colorado when he was 5 years old. There he attended parochial school graduating from Trinity Lutheran High School. Jerry went on to graduate from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and passed the test to become a Certified Public Accountant. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1962 and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan where he married Klara (Lang) on May 1, 1964. Following his military service, he and Klara moved to Longmont in 1965 and purchased their home in 1966 where they lived until Klara passed away in 2011. Jerry spent his professional career serving clients at various accounting and law firms in Longmont and Greeley. Jerry was a founding member of Messiah Lutheran Church and served in many leadership roles there. He was also an active supporter of multiple charitable organizations including Lutheran Hour Ministries, Concordia Seminary, and Orphan Grain Train, and served as Treasurer for The Rotary Club of Longmont for years. He took many memorable trips with Klara including a month-long trip to Europe. He was preceded in death by Klara and his father and mother. Jerry is survived by son David Alan Buchholz and wife Angie of Queen Creek, AZ; daughter Lori Ann Anderson and husband Dirk of Erie, CO; 5 grandchildren, Dylan, Alexis, and Aubrey Buchholz and Cale and Kinsey Anderson, as well as 2 brothers, Duane Buchholz of Bishop, CA and Clifford Buchholz, Jr. of Timnath, CO. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont.
