Gertrude Bruning

Gertrude Barbette Elizabeth Bruning, 99, of Longmont, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Longmont United Hospital.Gertrude was born May 8, 1908 in Phillips County, Kansas, to Henry and Anna (Hoffman) Bietz. On December 27, 1931, Gertrude married Fred Bruning in Phillipsburg, Kansas. The couple moved to Colorado in 1937.While primarily a homemaker, Gertrude had worked for various Longmont businesses including Kuner-Empson and Longmont Foods.Mrs. Bruning was a member of the First Christian and LifeBridge Christian Churches, as well as the Longmont Art Guild. She also enjoyed gardening and painting.She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Lloyd (Angie) Bruning of Brighton, Dale (Cheryl) Bruning of Arvada, and Stanley (Martha) Bruning of South Carolina; four daughters, Esther Nelson of Sterling, Virginia (Dan) Lesser of Powell, Wyoming, Sharon Litzenberger of Sterling, and Fern (Bud) Lang of Arvada; as well as 27 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1982; a son, Everett Bruning; two brothers, Eric and Art Bietz; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Foothills Gardens of Memory, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at LifeBridge Christian Church with David Bradshaw officiating.Memorials may be made to SIM, P.O.
