

Sedgie (Glenn) Pope, 85, died on Saturday, November 12th at peace in his home in Brighton, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn. He is survived by his children, Daryll Pope of Richmond, VA and Linda (Pope) Garoutte of Henderson, CO; a sister-in-law Peg Ricker, three nephews, one niece, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren plus extended family and close friends.
Glenn was born on January 24th, 1937 in Tylertown, Mississippi to Sedgie Ford Pope and Audrey (Breeland) Pope. Glenn graduated from Longmont HS in 1955. He attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins and earned a Master’s degree at University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Glenn was the science/biology teacher that students remembered.
He had a passion for music and family. He and his wife Carolyn (d) made annual treks to folk music festivals all across the USA. They enjoyed performing with local musicians and jamming with friends at the Coffee Shop in Longmont. Carolyn sang and played the autoharp and Glenn played the hammered dulcimer and a little harmonica.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 10:00am on Friday, November 18th at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman Street in Longmont. Favorite memories will be shared during the service.
