Harold "Hal" Hogness

Hal was born on June 7, 1935 in Hankinson, North Dakota to Arthur and Vivian (Simon) Hogness. He was the oldest of 12 children. His young life centered around farming and he graduated from Lidgerwood High School in 1953. In high school is where he met the love of his life, Mary Kriz.

Hal joined the Air Force and served from 1954 to 1957. He was stationed in Newfoundland putting up radio towers. While he was stationed abroad, Hal and Mary wrote each other daily. When he returned, they married on September 8, 1956. They have celebrated 68 years of marriage together.

In 1958, he had the opportunity to work at the FAA in Salt Lake City, Utah. He then transferred to the FAA in Longmont, Colorado where he worked until the age of 55, when he retired. After retirement, he and Mary moved to Estes and then finally Loveland.

Hal loved fast pitch softball, boating, camping, bowling and landscaping. He was a member of the Red Dale Drifters camp group for many years. He was an avid bowler back in the day, loved being outdoors and sitting in the sun, and loved being with family and watching his grandchildren grow up. He was very close with his children and grandchildren. When he was blessed with great grandchildren, he loved watching slide shows of them and being with them when they visited. He would say his nightly prayers to their two pictures.

Survivors include his beloved wife Mary of Loveland, three children; Greg and his wife Jean of Longmont, Bruce and his wife Susan of Loveland, Theresa (Even) and her husband Curt of Berthoud, five grandchildren; Samantha and her husband Quincy, Jacob, Bryce, Leandra and Shayla, two great grandchildren; Sawyer and Weston and two brothers; Arthur (Velroy) and Curt.

Hal is preceded in death by his parents, Art and Viv, four brothers; Clifford, Everett, Rodney, Marv, five sisters; Glenda, Roberta, Kathleen, Paulette, Jackie and one granddaughter, Alisha.
