
Harriet R. Smith, of Longmont, Colorado, died Monday, April 3, 2006 at Longmont United Hospital. She was 83 years old.Harriet was born September 22, 1922 in Fort Lupton, Colorado to John A. and Bessie (Shaw) Walker. After graduating from Fort Lupton High School in 1940, she worked for several years as secretary at various area businesses.On August 6, 1945, Harriet married Paul G. Smith in Fremont, Ohio. The couple had the opportunity to live in many different parts of the United States as Paul was serving in the US Air Force. Upon Paul?s military retirement in 1964, the couple settled in St. Louis, Missouri and later moved to Longmont in 1982.Mrs. Smith was a superb housekeeper and talented seamstress. She was devoted to her family and always had a kind word for her friends and neighbors.She is survived by her husband, Paul G. Smith of Longmont; her daughter, Corless A. Smith and her husband, Henry Waller III, of Oakland, California; and three sisters, Vera Peterson of Greeley, Colorado, Thelma Wagaman and her husband, Ray, of Boulder, Colorado, and Arloa Stein and her husband, Don, of Idaho Springs, Colorado. She is further survived by a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Waller of Oakland, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Pat Jaynes, Margaret Everett, and Louise La Pointe; and two brothers, Harold and John Walker. Howe Mortuary, Longmont is caring for Mrs. Smith?s family and her cremation arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Howe Mortuary.
