
Harry L. Swank of Longmont, Colorado died July 12, 2011 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 88.Harry was born on March 17, 1923 in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Hershel R. and Loretta (Bunger) Swank. He graduated high school in 1941 in Greenville, Ohio and honorably served 3 years in the U.S. Army. He married Ellen Oda in 1950 in Verona, Ohio.Harry farmed with his father in Ohio until 1962 when he moved to California. In California, Harry was a foreman at a turkey hatchery and continued that work in Colorado in 1966 when he was a foreman at Mile High Turkey Hatchery. Harry retired in 1993.He was a member of Rocky Mountain Christian Church. Harry enjoyed traveling. Harry also was an avid woodworker, building everything he could in wood.He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; his stepmother; a son, Michael Swank; a daughter, Karen Swank; two brothers, Ray Swank, Jr. and Marvin Swank; and a sister, Mary Alice Swank.Harry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ellen Swank of Longmont; two daughters, Melody Davey (Loren) of Aurora, CO and Linda Claice of Longmont; one brother George Swank; three sisters Kate Baker, Phyllis North and Barbara Brewer; five grandchildren, Nicole Moberg, Bailey Lysne, Michael Claice, Daniel Claice and Emily Claice and two sisters-in-law, Virginia Jenkins of Longmont and Mildred Fryer of Washington.A visitation will be held 5-7PM on Thursday, July 14 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with family present to greet friends. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, July 15 at Rocky Mountain Christian Church's Niwot Campus. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
