
Hazel Anne Cawley, of Longmont, died November 30, 2010 at her home. She was 82 years old. Hazel was born on September 14, 1928 in Watertown, South Dakota, the daughter of Paul and Inga (Wold) Sample. She married Michael P. Cawley on May 3, 1949 in Pocatello, Idaho. Hazel received her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree in 1968 from St. Anthony Hospital in Pocatello, Idaho. She was an LPN in various nursing homes in Pocatello, Idaho for 15 years and later for various nursing homes in Longmont and Boulder following her move to Longmont in 1974. She was a member of BP #1055 Elks and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Hazel loved to bake apple pies and play cards with friends. Hazel was an avid reader and had her own private library with hundreds of books. Above all, Hazel loved her grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Don and Bernard and sisters Helen and Donna. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael of Longmont; two sons, John J. Cawley (Deborah) of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Michael P. Cawley, Jr. (Mary) of Brighton, CO; her brother, Floyd Karlberg; her sister Myrna Austin (John) of Sixes, Oregon; six grandchildren, John J. Cawley, Jr., Desmond R. Cawley (Mandy), Frank Cawley, Mike Cawley, Jessica Smith and Molly McGee and four great-grandchildren, Austin, Piper, Tatum and Lily Ray. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 3, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel. Cremation will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Family Hospice Foundation, 1790 30th Street Suite 308, Boulder, CO 80301.
