Helen Fern Clark Leichliter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on December 5, 2019, in Longmont, Colorado. She was born September 12, 1923, in Norton, Kansas, to Myron W. Clark and Aura Evelyn Jones Clark, the fourth of 9 children. When she was 14 years old, the family moved to Burlington, Colorado, where she graduated from high school. She was a resident of Colorado ever since. She married Homer Leigh (Short) Leichliter who preceded her in death in 2003. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Mark Wedgle of Longmont and Sharon and Peter Catto of Brookline MA. She was blessed by 3 grandchildren, Jessica Wedgle Crask (Nate) of Lemoore CA and Ned (Jen) Catto of Brooklyn NY and Geoffrey (Beth) Catto of Lexington MA, and by 7 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Helen was a devoted homemaker, a fervent and knowledgeable gardener, an avid baker, talented seamstress, and enthusiastic bird watcher. In her later years, she developed a passion for travel to Ireland and for Irish traditional music and became a keen oil painter. She and her daughters spent many enjoyable hours researching family history together.
Visitation with the family will be held at Howe Mortuary on December 11 from 9 AM until 10:30, followed by graveside service at 11:00 at Foothills Garden of Memory, Longmont, CO.
